Immediately after the Cave of the Camel we head to the hull towards Punta Troia, where the top of the hill there is the famous Castello di Punta Troia the troubled history that dates back to the Saracens and continues with the Normans, Swabians and Bourbons and recently renovated, up to the Cave of Thunder.
First there is the promontory Cala Manione the bay that welcomes pleasure boats visiting or hiking in these places. Here, for example, landing on a rock that visitors must go to the Castle or the staff themselves. The alternitiva to this airport is the opposite side, the airport master but there you arrive at the beach.
The fortress where the castle looks granite and juts into the sea as a way to say the least impressive side. It is from this part that opens a huge ravine shallow but very rugged, is the famous Cave of Thunder which it was formed by erosion continuous and constant tidal. The cave is named after the loud noise that radiates similar to a real thunder when the billow is strong enough to break an entire wave inside the cave, causing a natural sounding board that meets sounding like a fearsome thunder.
After rounding the headland you can see one of the most beautiful bays of Marettimo, the Scalo Maestro, where you can go swimming in the crystal clear swimming and snorkeling, enjoying unique scenarios under water. Just next to the bay to Punta Troia few strokes there is a small cave with a small beach sheltered from the rock where you can “to listen” the sea as enclosed inside a shell (see photo below)
Here is the Gallery of the Thunder Cave and the Scalo Maestro
Continuing the circumnavigation of the island dubbed Punta Troia opens the coast facing north, the first cave after Scalo teacher is fantastic: Cave of the Pipe, then Punta Mugnuni and then Cala Bianca
